Every day 22 U.S. military service members and veterans commit suicide.  November is National Veterans and Military Families Month and we want to strengthen the community by helping bring awareness and much needed funds to this important issue.

During the month of November registered participants will be asked to run, walk, bike or swim to raise funds for Active Heroes.  All running, walking, biking and swimming will be turned into “steps”.  More participants equal more steps and more steps adds up to a larger the donation to Active Heroes by FitnessBank.

It’s time to get back to the basics, to break you down and build you back up, military style! You will receive a daily workout, with instructions on how to complete the workout and variations for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more and those starting out!

Everyone is welcome to participate. Fast or slow, young or old, active duty or civilian everyone can benefit from these daily workouts!

Dear Fort2Base Family,

It’s with an exceptionally heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of the 2020 Fort2Base Race. We have worked hard these past few months speaking with our local city partners, other race directors and following the recommendations from the CDC, but at the end of the day, after considering every scenario, we kept coming back to the same conclusion. Celebrating our 10th anniversary of the Fort2Base Race, in a way that honors our athletes and the occasion is simply not possible this year.

For the past few years I have had a vision of what I wanted our 10th anniversary to look like starting with the three part medal in 2018 and including many surprises and experiences, making for a one of kind event. In looking at balancing the safety of our participants, volunteers, spectators, partners and the community in conjunction with guidelines, directives and what’s known and unknown, it became painfully clear that providing an exceptional event just wasn’t going to happen in 2020.

So I had a flashback to fourth grade kickball and decided that it was time for a do-over! Not just for Fort2Base, but for all of 2020! Let’s pretend that August 2020 never happens and we will move ahead with our 10th anniversary celebration on Sunday August 22nd 2021. We’ll see you in 2021 to do it right, like it’s meant to be done, with the Chief Selects cheering you on, Hooahs all around, and members of the military hanging your well-earned medal around your neck at the finish line.

In the meantime, rest assured we are not going away; we will be planning for an even bigger and better 2021! And since I miss seeing your faces, we will be hosting fun runs, challenges and celebrations along the way!

Thank you so much for your support of Fort2Base as an early bird registrant. You have three options for your 2020 Fort2Base Race entry:

  • Defer to the 2021 event (August 22, 2021) at no charge.
  • Defer to the 2022 event (August 28, 2022) at no charge.
  • Gifting your 2020 entry to military personnel for 2021.

If you would like to defer your registration to 2021 or 2022, please log into your imATHLETE account and chose the deferral option, a one-time use deferral code will be automatically issued to you. The code is only valid for the event you defer to, and the code is valid as long as registration is open. Online registration is currently open for both the 2021 and 2022 Fort2Base Races and will close on July 5, 2020 and then re-open on January 1st of the event year.

You can find step by step instructions of how to transfer your registration here.

**Note if you paid for race day packet pick up or packet mailing these will be transferred to your new entry.

Please make your selection no later than July 5, 2020!

Be nice to one another, because we’re all in this thing together. And we will come out the other side, and we will be better for it.
