2023 will mark the 12th annual Fort2Base race, a monumental race through Illinois’ most impressive, historic and contemporary military command and training centers.
Participants will have a choice of three race distances, a 10 Nautical Mile or 3 Nautical Mile event (11.5 miles or 3.45 miles) and 1 mile Family Fun Run (NEW in 2023)
“The nautical mile (symbol M, NM or nmi) is a unit of length that is about one minute of arc of latitude measured along any meridian, or about one minute of arc of longitude at the equator. By international agreement, it is 1,852 metres (approximately 6,076 feet).”

The Fort 2 Base 10 Nautical Mile and 3 Nautical Mile races will be using a disposable timing chip system. Each participant will receive a timing tag attached to their race bib when they pick up their race materials at packet pickup.
If you are using the single use Tag as a timing device for the first time, please ensure the following in order to receive an accurate time.
- Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso (it can be attached to a shirt, shorts or a race belt)
- Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold, wrinkle, bend, cut or alter in any way)
- Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
